Bush not a liar; he's a visionary president

It has become a mantra on the left that President Bush is a shameless liar. Let's examine this myth.``Mission accomplished'' - The mission was to remove Saddam from power. He added that much work was left to be done. No lie there.``WMD'' - Every intel agency on the planet said so, not just ours.``Unilateralism'' - Sorry. Much effort was made to secure congressional and U.N. approval, and it was successful. These are just a few examples of mindless hate for a visionary president.Bruce PerringChatsworth .

Friday wild card

The big guy will be back next week, and the weekend approaches, so this will be it from me for a while. Thanks to all of you for your post suggestions - I've got a much better sense of the enormous amount of work that DFO puts in to keep this blog going.

It's also way more fun than the Daily Briefing, unless there's marmots to write about...

LEE BANDY: Democrats bloodied by bruising primary

And when their backs are against the wall, they can get down and dirty.

"They play to win at all costs," said former Gov. Jim Hodges, an Obama supporter. "People don't like it."

"I expected better out of Clinton," said Harpootlian. "It's one thing to play hardball. (But) they cheat. ... I'm hopping mad."

Former S.C. Democratic Party chairman Joe Erwin of Greenville, also an Obama supporter, said, "Blacks are not going to sit back and let some white person kill the chances of one of their own to be elected president."

Emory University political scientist Merle Black said Clinton was treating fellow Democrat Obama, whose campaign had lost much of its momentum since his Iowa caucuses win, like a Republican competitor.

Tom Daschle of South Dakota, the former U.S.

Kids Are Worth the Cost

Obviously, there are plenty of other ways I could invest the quarter of a million dollars-plus it will take to raise her that would ensure a life of luxury that I'm now unlikely to experience. Do I regret my choice? Not for a second.

At the time I was adopting my daughter, several acquaintances wondered why I would give up a life of great freedom and the financial means to enjoy it. I did it because, to me, Kris Kristofferson was right: Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose. My daughter is now 9 years old. Every Friday night when we snuggle up to watch a movie together, or whenever she turns to me with laughing eyes and says, "Mom, you're crazy, but I still love you," I know I've spent my money wisely.

My life is so much richer with my child than it was without her.

Q3 2007 "Flow of Funds"

German inflation is at its highest in more than a decade. Prices are also gaining at an annual rate of 6.5% in China, with rapid increases in other emerging markets too. The culprit everywhere: rising food and energy costs, underpinned by surging demand from those fast-growing developing countries... An intense debate is under way in central banks across the world as to whether the recent rapid rise in food and energy prices will continue - and what, if anything, they should do about it. 'We are seeing structural change in the historical commodity price relationships and that may imply structural changes in the relationship between headline inflation and core consumer prices,' says Ken Rogoff, a professor at Harvard and former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund."

December 4 - Bloomberg (Fergal O'Brien): "European producer-price inflation accelerated in October to the fastest pace this year, boosted by a surge in energy costs and the biggest increase in food prices in at least 15 years.
